Ok so I didn't back here after our first 4 preseason games. Just to summarize since then, 3 losses in Ontario but good building blocks, one tie against Dawson with some drama (those in any way involved with the Stingers soccer will know what I mean, the rest, no need to know.
Then we started our real season. Our first game vs Bishops was really the tale of 2 halves. We played a great first 45 minutes possession wise and with some decent finishing we could have been up 2 or 3 nothing...instead we were only up 1 goal. I am obviously not objective but I really do believe it was the best 45 minutes of soccer played by a Stingers women's team in a few years, at least quality of soccer wise. However, we simply got out worked in the 2nd half and gave up a tying goal in the 8oth minute. Two days later, we traveled to Sherbrooke in what can only be describes as a day from hell... bus was an hour late, we had little time to get ready, gave up to goals in first 10 minutes and on and on. To add to it, our men's team had issues as they had 2 players sent off in the first 20 minutes of their game. However kudos to the boys who played hard even with the two missing bodies and only lost 1-0, and even had some great chances. Well here we are today... a few hours away from facing U of Montreal #2 ranked in the country and undefeated...not to mention we haven't fared well at their place in recent years. However we have put together a good game plan and if we can execute it, we have a chance to surprise. Then Sunday we face McGill... another tough test and maybe the strongest team in our conference this fall. They are steamrolling through teams since preseason so we will have to be focused. A tough weekend for sure, but hey w
