I never set out to become a coach, it just happened!
As of this past June, I am now officially retired from coaching soccer. After 27 years involved with 3 great groups, Lakeshore Soccer Club, the Quebec Soccer Federation and Concordia University, the time has come to call it a career. I often said that when my time at Concordia was done, so would my coaching.
I often get asked how I got into coaching and why coaching female soccer. As the header to this page says, it kind of just happened. My wife team's had gotten a new coach and he was looking for an assistant who was familiar with the team. I attended most games anyways so why not. The first year was nothing special and the coach quit half way through the year so I finished out the season.
The following year, my first ever as a head coach at any level, we won provincials and went to nationals, finishing fourth. I was bitten by the coaching bug. It was a great ride and I was able to work with some great athletes, meet some great people, make friends and live some great experiences.
I am sure I will missed it sometimes but I am very content moving on. I am proud of my commitment to women's soccer and hope that in my own way, I was able to help grow the game.
